Grades & Quality Specifications
There is no commercial value to a commodity without its quality parameters. And the same goes for the Kashmiri Saffron as well. The more the stigma length, dark color, aroma, and moisture content, the more will be the b2b commercial value.
Available Grades (With Kashmiri Saffron Priority)
1. Kashmiri Mongra / Lacha (GI-Tagged)
Kashmiri Mongra saffron is undoubtedly one of the most premium saffron varieties in the world. It has all the character sticks as discussed earlier, which include thicker threads, dark red, and an intense aroma that enhances its b2b commercial value and make it instantly recognizable.
It is also very rich in crocin meaning that the level of crocin is exceptionally high, which is exactly what gives the saffron its deep, natural colour that people prize so highly.
2. Super Negin (Export Premium Grade)
Super Negin consists of very long, unbroken, thick red stigmas with excellent aroma and high color strength. This grade is highly preferred in international export markets for premium culinary and cosmetic applications due to its visual appeal and consistent lab parameters.
3. Negin
Negin saffron is one such saffron that is similar to Super Negin, but it is very slightly shorter in stigma length. It has a very strong aroma and color, which makes it suitable for bulk exports, food processing units, and nutraceutical manufacturers who value quality along with better price efficiency.
4. Sargol
Sargol contains only the red stigmas without the yellow style. While shorter than Negin, it still delivers good coloring and aroma. This grade is widely used in large-scale food manufacturing, beverages, and spice blending operations.
5. Pushal
Pushal saffron includes part of the yellow style along with red stigmas. It is more economical and commonly used in price-sensitive markets and traditional food preparations.
